  18.      Voice Blaster Version 2.0 is a Dos program which allows you to
  19.      queue up any combination of digitized audio (.VOC) and FM music
  20.      (.CMF) files.  Then you can begin listening to hundreds of
  21.      music and voice files without having to select a file each
  22.      time! Record (.VOC) files with unlimited file lengths, and
  23.      select the input channel and filter settings for SB Pro and SB
  24.      16 cards!

  26.      You can pause, continue, and queue up all audio files in
  27.      multiple drives and directories and listen to hours of voice
  28.      audio and FM music from your computer while you work!  This
  29.      version fully supports the Sound Blaster Pro and Sound Blaster
  30.      16 compatible cards.  Volume controls for all settings are
  31.      provided for SB Pro and SB 16 series cards!  Complete with On-
  32.      Line Help for playing files and instructions for how to
  33.      register this product.

  60.      to use. Voice Blaster is a shareware program. If you decide to
  61.      use this program after evaluating it, please send in your
  62.      registration. You will receive more programs and a manual (see
  63.      the REGISTER.TXT file, or read the 'REGISTERING' section of
  64.      Voice Blaster by selecting the 'HELP' button after running
  65.      VBLASTER.  If you decide to use VBLASTER, you must register to
  66.      receive your license to use the program.  Your registration
  67.      will go towards development of future versions, and you will

  78.      This version uses the loaded Sound Blaster or Sound Blaster Pro
  79.      drivers shipped with your sound card.  This insures that
  80.      whatever features are in the Sound Card you may have will be
  81.      supported with the VBLASTER program including stereo, and any
  82.      data compression Creative Labs is using for playing .VOC files.
  83.      This program will search for the .VOC driver in the directory
  84.      specified by the SOUND environment variable (this should be set
  85.      up by the SB Card installation software), and if not found,
  86.      will use one of the drivers supplied with this program 
  87.      depending on you card type. VBLASTER uses the double buffering 
  88.      disk voice driver.  The voice driver searched for is called 
  89.      CTVDSK.DRV. The FM Music driver SBFMDRV.COM will be run by the 
  90.      VBLAST.BAT file at startup.

  138.      shipped with SB 16 cards.  The included driver VBLASTER.D16
  139.      has this bug fixed.  Generally, you may assume that your 
  140.      CTVDSK.DRV driver is OK if it has a later date than 10/25/93.

  151.      VBLASTER will run from a floppy drive, but it is recommended to
  152.      install it onto your hard drive.

  154.      Installation of VBLASTER to a hard drive is easy. Here is what
  155.      you do:
  156.  
  157.      First, if you received VBLASTER on a disk from a Shareware
  158.      Vendor, then following their installation instructions.
  159.      
  160.      If you have received VBLASTER from a BBS, or if their are no
  161.      installation programs that came with this program, then follow
  162.      the instructions below:
  163.      
  164.      1) Make a directory for VBLASTER
  165.      2) Copy all the above files to the new directory,
  166.  
  167.      Here is an example where C:\VBLASTER is the desired directory
  168.      [PATH] = C:\PCPLUS\DWN ([PATH] is the directory where the
  169.      VBLASTER files reside). If the files were on the "B:" drive,
  170.      then substitute "B:" where you see [PATH].

  178.      Since VBLASTER is shareware, all the above files must be kept
  179.      together.  Of course, it would be better to use a file copy
  180.      utility to copy the VBLASTER files, but the above example was
  181.      given for clarity.

  183.      If you have received this package from a BBS, then it would be
  184.      better to unzip all the files directly into the new directory.
  185.      Here is an example of unarchiving the files into the new
  186.      directory:

  193.                           ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES

  196.      Before running VBLASTER.EXE, make sure your environment
  197.      variables are setup.  There are two variables, one points to
  198.      the directory of your main Sound Blaster programs, the other
  199.      sets up the port address, interrupt, DMA number, and the Sound
  200.      Blaster card type.  VBLASTER uses the card type to determine
  201.      which voice driver to load if it cannot find the driver in the
  202.      directory specified by SOUND.  Here is a description:
  203.      
  204.      SOUND=C:\SBPRO
  205.      
  206.      This specifies C:\SBPRO as main directory, then the directory
  207.      search for the CTVDSK.DRV is C:\SBPRO\DRV as dictated by
  208.      Creative Labs.  Make sure this is set by your AUTOEXEC.BAT
  209.      file. You can type:  SET   at the Dos prompt to see all
  210.      environment variables.
  211.      
  212.      The second environment variable specifies the I/O configuration
  213.      and card type.  Here is an example:

  215.      BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 T2
  216.      
  217.      where:  A - specifies the base I/O port used
  218.              I - specifies the interrupt request line
  219.              D - specifies the DMA channel
  220.              T - specifies the card type:
  221.                     1 for SB 1.5
  222.                     2 for SB Pro
  223.                     3 for SB 2.0
  224.                     4 for SB Pro 2.0
  225.                     6 for SB 16
  226.      
  227.      Make sure this is setup correctly for your card.  It probably
  228.      is if you have a SB Pro or higher.  If you have a SB 1.5 or SB
  229.      2.0, you will need to set this up in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file so
  230.      that you will not get the warning message at the beginning of
  231.      the VBLASTER screen every time.  Use the above BLASTER=...
  232.      example, changine only the 220 for port address, 7 for the
  233.      interrupt, 1 for the DMA channel, and 2 for your card type.
  234.      Refer to your SB card manual to find out which card type you
  235.      have.  You probably can use the above example changing only the
  236.      2 for the correct card type for your card. Here are some
  237.      examples, exactly as they should appear in AUTOEXEC.BAT
  238.

  247.                         RUNNING THE PROGRAM

  250.      To run this program, you must first change to the directory
  251.      that you installed VBLASTER, such as the example above by
  252.      typing:
  253.

  259.      The VBLASTER batch file will first load the FM Music driver
  260.      SBFMDRV.COM, and then run VBLASTER.EXE.  After exiting
  261.      VBLASTER, the SBFMDRV.COM driver will be removed.  You should
  262.      change VBLAST.BAT batch file to load the SBFMDRV.COM that is
  263.      shipped with your card.  It should be located in the directory
  264.      specified by the environment variable SOUND.  For example, if
  265.      your SOUND=C:\SB   then change the two lines in the VBLAST.BAT
  266.      file to this:

  268.      C:\SB\SBFMDRV
  269.      VBLASTER   (no change)
  270.      C:\SB\SBFMDRV /u
  271.      
  272.      Also, if you so desire, you can manually run the SBFMDRV.COM
  273.      program first, and then run the VBLASTER.EXE program.  By
  274.      running the VBLAST.BAT batch file, the SBFMDRV.COM driver is
  275.      automatically removed from memory after exiting the VBLASTER
  276.      program.
